Consultant or employee?

Classification follows how the work is actually done, not what the contract calls it. If the relationship looks like employment, employ the person through our employer of record instead.

Is engaging Canadian consultants through InfraDev legal?

Yes. Engaging consultants through a Canadian contracting party is an established, compliant model. Canadian business law permits a third party to contract consultants on behalf of foreign companies. InfraDev contracts Canadian consultants on behalf of U.S. businesses, in line with applicable law.

Do we need a Canadian company?

No. InfraDev acts as the Canadian contracting party, so you don't form a Canadian corporation, register for GST/HST, or open Canadian business accounts. We handle all of that.

How quickly can we onboard a new consultant?

Typically within 24–48 hours once we have all required documentation and contract terms. The exact timeline depends on the completeness of the consultant's information and any specific engagement requirements.

Do you work with remote consultants?

Yes. We specialize in remote consulting engagements. Your Canadian consultants work from wherever they are located in Canada, and you manage their projects and deliverables remotely.

What provinces do you operate in?

We can contract consultants in all Canadian provinces and territories. We ensure compliance with provincial tax laws, business regulations, and all regional requirements.

Can you help us find consultants?

We focus on the contracting and compliance side. You find the consultants you want to engage, and we facilitate the legal contracting process. We are not a recruitment agency.

What about immigration sponsorship?

We do not provide immigration sponsorship (TN, H1B, etc.). We only offer Canadian-based consulting engagements for consultants who are already legally authorized to work in Canada.

What happens if we need to end a consulting engagement?

We handle all contract termination processes including final invoicing, payment processing, and compliance with contract terms and Canadian business requirements.

Can a consultant work from an office?

Yes. InfraDev has office space in Beaconsfield, Québec, available up to five days a week. Where your security requirements call for it, access to systems or data can be limited to our office. See Host your hire.
